At a Glance
Fiction, simple as that.
Stanzas, verses, & so on.
More than just stories.
A confession.
I make a lot of things. Often, I feel as though if I don’t, my head will crack open and I’ll lose all of my ideas in one great explosion that will kill everyone I love…
Okay, that’s a little dramatic, but creating has always been a therapeutic process for me. Be it with blocks or sticks as a child, to art, stories, board games, maps, bread, or whatever other strange ideas come to me nowadays. No matter what, I’m always striving to do something.
However, my creativity is fickle. I go from project to project with bursts of energy, only to stop after a day or two and not touch it for weeks (years). It’s a miracle I finish anything. Creating things is core to my being, though, and below is a summary of what I have done, like to do, and am currently in the process of doing. Explore at your own risk; they might be a little rough around the edges, but don’t hurt yourself.

Part 3: Girls Before Swine
(Practically Human – Serial Fiction) The pig sat on its hunches, looking up at Auto from across the room with apologetically empty eyes. Auto shifted uneasily in bed, trying to soothe a raging itch under the bandages on his arm. Grunting in frustration, he pushed the blankets away from him. Rebecca (the pig) dropped her…

Part 2: Life, Love & Longing
(Practically Human – Serial Fiction) A cool, wet breeze kissed Auto’s hand. With a shallow breath, he opened his eyes and squinted. A scattered light spread across the room, cut into shades of yellow and red by the stained-glass window next to Auto’s head. He felt another wet kiss on his hand and reflexively pulled…

Part 1: Whale Fall
(Practically Human – Serial Fiction) Auto trudged under the shade of the far-reaching nactu trees in search of a good place to die.

All the Little Things both Real and Imaginary
(Short Story) A girl, who would be twelve in two weeks, slept in a bed for a much younger child. Around her, all the things both real and imaginary crept, biting their lips, and licking the dirt off the walls.

Your Hand
(Poem) In the autumn months, when the wind strips bare the tree and a frost bites hard into the ground, I reach to my right quite absentmindedly.
-
Babylon is Burning
(Poem) It was written in a peculiar script.
Other Projects
I have a few ongoing projects that I think deserve special attention. These, unlike the poems and stories, are in an ever-changing state, and it is my goal to document their evolutions here. I may also, one day, announce novels, board games, and other endeavors below. For now, though, I hope you enjoy these first few projects that are near and dear to my heart.
Practically Human
- Serial Fiction
An episodic, Sci-Fi/fantasy series following Auto, the only human left in an unfamiliar world. Created by humanity’s successors, the 2mens, he must evolve to survive a landscape that has been forever altered by humanity and grapple with the long shadow cast by their sudden and unexplained absence.
Earth 45
- Community World Building Project
45° Makes a World of Difference! This started as a fun thought exercise and has turned into an ongoing world-building project. The concept is simple: what if the world has always been tilted 45°? How would the regional environments and global climate be different? And how might it affect the genesis of human civilization?
This is an ongoing project, and I’m always looking for people to contribute and help build up on this new world together. If you have any questions, comments, or want to get involved, don’t hesitate to reach out!
aSETHments
- Global Events & News
I am not a classically trained journalist, I just love history. I am not an expert in world events, I just have a desire to understand why things are the way that they are. I feel better when I can look at a globe and know why every line is there. In that effort, I started writing aSETHments, my own little news outlet focused on global events with the aim of simple understanding.
I want this to become greater than just me, a network of independent people from across the globe, all contributing in their small way to build an authentic picture of our world and the experiences, lives, and stories therein. If you are interested in becoming a contributor, you can contact me to learn more.
